La Gerla was born from the passion of its founder, Sergio Rossi, an advertising businessman.
He created a little oasis in Montalcino where advanced technology unites with the knowledge of farmers and enologists to produce excellent wines.
The estate, known by locals as Colombaio, was originally owned by the Biondi Santi family, the first producers of Brunello. Sergio Rossi bought the land in 1976 and completely restructured it respecting its original environment.
Sergio Rossi passed away in July 2011, but his attention to quality and detail are the benchmarks that allows La Gerla to continue making exceptional wines.
